Wow! Does Colonel Curry have a story for you! You probably noticed the tipped ear...Colonel was part of a colony of cats living behind a KFC. While the restaurant management had no problem with the cats, the city was not happy with the litter that people left behind when they shared their chicken with the cats. A TNR group moved in to trap the cats and relocate them to barns. Colonel stood out, however, because he seemed much too social to put back out. His foster mom took him in independent of Maine Coon Rescue to assure that he was not feral and, eventually, he became a Maine Coon Rescue cat.

Colonel was shy but very gentle. He allowed petting, and it was not long before he was craving the full body strokes of affection. He really liked being indoors and getting his share of attention. Colonel is a stunning cat with amazing copper eyes and a personality of gold. He rolls over on his back for belly rubs and purrs when petted. He is always the first to meet his foster mom when she enters the room. Colonel's coat is glossy, very soft and fluffy and is very easy to maintain. Take a look at that impressively long "beard"! What a shame it would have been for him not to find an indoor home and have to live in a barn.

The "Curry" part of his name was added when, after about 10 days in foster care when he was still confined, he fell very ill. Dr. Curry cured him of the raging ear infections he had; she is his favorite vet so he asked that he take her last name in tribute and thanks.

Colonel will do best in a home without younger children, and his ideal home will be with a single person or a couple who can give him lots of attention. He does great with other cats and participates in the romper room fun that goes on with multiple cats. Colonel has spent some time with a small, cat friendly dog and does well.

Colonel continues to blossom and has so much potential to be the perfect companion cat for a very lucky individual or small family without lots of activity. Colonel longs for home all his own - could that be your sofa he will nap on??

Adoption Fee - $175 includes combo test (neg/neg), neuter, rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, deworming and flea preventative. Colonel has a complimentary microchip registered to Maine Coon Rescue.
