THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.

**Please read carefully before applying, as there is a lot of important information for Annie.**

Up for grabs, we have a pug! No, wait a minute, this is a cat page, right? Well, let's just say Annie identifies as a pug cat! What is that, you might ask? When Annie is happy, she throws her tail up on her back like a pug! Although it's not curly. Hhhmmm, maybe more like a Persian cat? It is so cute when she does it! She will put it on her back, and the end will fall to her side! I've never seen a cat do that before. Usually, they hold them straight up! She is quite comical! 

The thing about Annie is that no one sees the real her until she comes out of her shell. I had her here in her own bedroom for a year. Every time I even looked at her, she would take off and hide. If I tried to pet her, she ran. Her eyes would be as big as saucers! I'm not really sure why she is so scared at first. I was trying not to push her. Before I knew it, a year had passed. We reached out to the person who was familiar with her in her old home. She said you have to really get right to it with affection and not let her hide. I realized that if she has an opportunity to hide, she will continue to do so, and this will be her life. This is a very sweet cat, and we want her to come around quickly so she can enjoy her life. Not just to survive, but to thrive! So I started going to her room and sitting near her hiding spot. I talked to her, played on my phone, put treats in front of her, and slowly touched her on her hips and back when she had nowhere to go with me sitting right there. I kept using treats and finally moved in for head scratches. It didn't take long before she enjoyed that! She loves her ears, chin, and cheeks rubbed, too. She will lean her head into your hand for that! In the beginning, I thought I was doing the right thing by giving her time and space for her to come around on her own. While this is usually the case with many cats, Annie is a tough cookie. You really have to be someone who can start petting her right away. If you don't, she will retreat and never come around to enjoy affection. I know she has a lot of love and sweetness in her. Witnessing her opening up has been such a rewarding thing. I just wish I'd known to do this a year ago. I feel like we wasted precious time that could have been spent on treats, love, and pets. That's why it is so important that she finds a home where you absolutely will put her in a small room with nowhere to hide and interact with her from minute one. A bathroom would be good. At my house, she would get under the bed and never come out. I took the bed out, so she only had the cat tree and the closet to hide. In the closet, I have an old table in the shape of wolves. She loves to get behind this, and I guess she thinks she is fully hidden behind it, haha. You will see the table in some of the photos. For some reason, that's a comfortable spot for her. She never used to come out, even when I put wet food out for her. Once she opened up, she came out, stretched, flopped that tail up on her back, and even played some. 

Speaking of playing, she is in an upstairs bedroom. I can hear her going bonkers up there at times! She runs around like crazy, and it sounds like she is bouncing off the walls! I have never gotten to see this. Maybe I need to put a camera in there. I know it's her because I've heard this when no one else is up there. So it's either her, or my house is haunted!! 

This baby is neat with her litter box. She isn't picky about litter at all. I give her 3 boxes so she has a choice. She isn't picky about food either. She eats wet food once a day and has dry food out 24/7. 

While we think this girl may be about 10 years old, she is nowhere near that in spirit. Due to her age, she has had several teeth removed. In May 2024, she had a cleaning and some teeth pulled. The following year, this past May, she had more removed. Her gums were bleeding, and the vet felt it was best to remove the teeth that were causing issues. You'd never know she's had anything done and eats just fine! I just want to make a potential adopter aware that she may need a cleaning and/or extractions in the future.

I've tried putting kittens and later an adult cat with her, and they fought some. With that being said, I feel she should be the only cat in the household. I haven't dog tested her, but given her personality, I think it is best she be the single cat in the home. She would do best with older children.

I know this is a tall order for a home. I do feel the perfect home is out there for her. She is such a sweet cat and has a lot of miles left on her tires, haha! Does anyone want to prove to her that love doesn't hurt and that forever homes do exist? 

You must be within about 5 hours of Mount Lookout, WV and willing to meet halfway in order to be considered. Due to her shyness, this is a must!

Annie's adoption fee is $175.00. This includes spay/neuter, FVRCP Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Combo test (neg/neg), microchip, dewormer, flea prevention, and wellness visit.
